Attending a floral school can increase your chances of getting hired as a florist. However, not all schools are highly rated and therefore some may hurt your hiring chances. To avoid this situation, it is important to learn how to find and select a school that will help you to get a florist job when the program has been completed.

Before attending a school understand that being a florist means having a very tactile career which is ever changing. For these two very reasons the first choice in education for a career in floristry is to work for a well respected florist. Most floral schools advertise their strengths in delivering content rich programs to students, yet in reality the advertising is based around "hype" or the "excitement" and optimism of the floral industry to get students enrolled. This makes it challenging to sift through the different schools in order to find the true gems that really offer a quality educational experience which is marketable after the schooling is completed.

Since all schools are not created equal, and some provide better educational opportunities than others, it will be important to sift through the list to find the right ones to attend. The best way to find out which schools are the best of the best is to seek out recommendations from professionals working in the florist field - they will provide their biased, and un-biased advice on any schools that you may be considering.

To determine which floral schools are highly recommended begin by asking those who are already working in the field (florist, floral designer, flower wholesaler, etc.) for their help in your selection of a floral school to attend. These experts will provide the guidance you need to make the right decision.

Asking a professional florist or floral design manager a specific question such as, "from what school would you hire students that complete a floral education program?" will provide fantastic insight about a particular school. Another great question to ask is "which floral school program to stay away from?".

The main purpose for attending a floral school is to end up getting a job working in a florist company or to start a new florist business. Therefore, you want to choose a floral school that has the highest recommendations from insiders who would either hire students from that school or they have attended the school themselves and recommend it.
