Selecting a Summer Camp Location for Kids … Teens
November 7th, 2009 by Joy IngramSending children to summer camps is a crucial thing to fill up the gaps they get after their school semesters are over. Nothing can be more valuable and rewarding than sending them to a camp. They can learn some new set of skills, have fun, make new friends and prepare them for the forthcoming school and college study.
A variety of summer camps are held in USA and all hope to offer the best. Some camps are in association of colleges and universities and the fine example of it is iD Tech Camps which runs under the roof of some prestigious universities like Arizona State University, Colorado State University, New York University, Lake Forest College, University of Michigan, Columbia University, and the list goes on. This ensures that the education and fun the campers get are a great achievement in their lives as they go outside in the society or for the further study.
You can not choose a summer camp blindly for your children because it is the place which is new and unfamiliar for them. There are certain criteria you can consider while choosing a camp. Choose a suitable one which has ACA accreditation, offer safety and risk management policies so that you can rest assured that you children are in the safe hands.
There's diversity in summer camps; computer camps, sport camps, cyber and science camps, gaming camps, educational camps, robotics camps, kids and teen summer camps. Summer learning courses are equally of great significance because that are determining factor for what your child wish to do. If your child is interested in video games, he or she can join a computer or game camp and learn the art of game design.
As per your convenience, there are overnight camps, which run for couple of weeks as well as day camps where you can reach home at the end of the day. May be your children are not accustomed to be away from you, in such case you can decide a day camp with fine set of leaning and fun programs. If your child wishes to develop his or her knowledge and aim to feel the camp experience, can send him/her to an overnight camp and participate in the activities, and make new friends. The most important lesson that the campers learn will learn at the overnight camp is socializing with the peers.
It will be of little use if your kid is not given proper importance or attention. And therefore, when it comes to choosing a suitable camp for your kid please note the teacher-student ratio. 6:1 student-teacher ratio is an ideal one where special attention can be offered easily. Though there is always a monitoring eye pervading so that no mischief or abuse can happen, the campers are given freedom to learn and enjoy all sorts of activities under the supervising eye!
So, the final choice is yours which camp can be perfect for your kids. You can even consult the camp staff to learn about the learning courses and programs. This will help you decide which camp will suit your dear one. You can also manage to see some ex-campers and know learn their views which will also help you regarding choosing a proper camp for your child.
